NICMOS's Stand-in

The NICMOS Cooling Loop Simulator (NCLS) does not look much like NICMOS, but it only needs to act like it thermally.

   Summary

The NCS was going to be have to be tested without NICMOS so a mock-up was built to run tests upon - it was called the NIMOS Cooling Loop Simulator (NCLS). It was designed to accurately mimic the plumbing and thermal environment inside NICMOS.

It was built at Goddard using a design by MEGA engineering.
